Homestead, FL

Today we traveled to the Miami Everglades Resort, Also known as the Miami Everglades KOA when we fist started coming here over 15 years ago. Its a great camping area nestled in the middle of a agricultural area.

Things have certainly changed over the years. Take the WiFi for instance. When we first came here, WiFi was not even being used. You had to use one of 3 computers they had set up in Activity Hall. Next came the spotty and costly WiFi. Years later WiFi was free! This year its back to costly WiFi, or like 15 years ago you can use one of 2 computers in the Activity Hall.

We still love the place though!

Pat will be joining us tomorrow.

Another great day!

The day started off by being a little warmer, Thank goodness. Stephanie and I decided to go and visit my Aunts and Uncles who winter in Lakeland, It was a great visit. Unfortunately both uncles were golfing, but we did have a  nice visit with Hugette, Sharon, and Nicole.

Next on the agenda, we wanted to visit one of our favorite spots. Disney Springs, formerly Downtown Disney. They are almost done the renovations. It going to look amazing!

Like the Canadian Dollar, so is the Florida temperature….

We had a great day “window shopping” mostly. With the Canadian dollar where it is right now we are almost paying .50 cents on the dollar! The deals have to be really good before we choose to buy. We are staying at the Lake Buena Vista Resort. It has proven to be a great place. When we arrived yesterday, we had arrived a day early. The front desk staff was very accommodating and were able to book us in a day early. We can see the EPCOT fireworks from our balcony. I will try and get some pictures tonight. Oh yes, that’s a prate ship in the middle of the pool!

Cresent City, Florida

Those who follow might know I take alot of pictures of signs during our travels. This one was in Cresent City, FL. I had to giggle knowing my fire fighters will see the humor.

We are finally here!

The trip down was uneventful. The roads were dry, except Pennsylvania. We spent our first night in Sanatee, SC. We stayed there before. We arrived in Orlando about 15:00.

The 11th Annual Christmas Breakfast

It was our pleasure again this year to serve breakfast to all those Paramedics who had to work Christmas this year. Stephanie along with her mother Pat and Joe M planned the best feast ever.

Superintendent Francois Cote showed up at 03:30 to give us a hand with the prep and by 04:45 we started serving.

With the financial help of our administrative staff we served over 30 lbs of sausage, 30 lbs of bacon, 200 english muffins, 18 doz eggs, 150 crepes and 4 litres of maple syrup.

Big Soul Project’s annual Christmas Concert

I had the great opportunity to listen to the  Big Soul Project‘s annual Christmas concert at Dominion-Chalmers United Church. I helped our MedVent Partners provide to the packed house of approx 1000 people. The voices and music sounded great in the venue. Can’t wait to return next year.

The tree is up!!

We started the day with a great breakfast. Then it was on to Thompson’s tree farm. We have been purchasing our tree from the farm for awhile now. They not only sell tree, they sell an “Experience”. Sleigh rides, hot chocolate, cookies and a campfire…

Remembrance Day 2015

I had the chance to attend the National Ceremony again this year.It should be on every Canadians “must do” list. This and Canada Day. Approx 35,000 people gathered to remember, The people of Ottawa continued the tradition of placing their poppies on the tomb of the unknown soldier
